Westmoria Comitatus; Anglice Westmorland. From Blaeu's Atlas Major, in a Spanish edition, probably 1672, this engraved map has fine original hand colouring. The heavy quality paper is a little toned but otherwise a fine copy of this map. Spanish text verso. The margins are huge. Cartouche with putti holding sheep shears and loom shuttles. The scale of miles features a surveyor on horseback with two assistants with the measuring chain. Fine royal coat of arms heightened with gold and other shields of the gentry. Good quality original colouring picks out the features and towns.
